Having subdued Italy, Napoleon Bonaparte turned his gaze to Egypt as the next target of expansion. He believed that the Land of the Nile was the gateway to conquering the East, and in 1798 he set out to prove it to himself and to the world.
The National Library contains a unique collection of more than 1000 documents from Napoleon Bonaparte's time with his army in Egypt (1798-1801).
